What Sarath Search is
A fast, private, India-first search engine. No account, no profile, no ad tracking — and an honest account of where every result comes from.
Where results come from
Sarath Search doesn't claim an index it doesn't have. Results are sourced through a fallback chain of search providers, tried in order, falling through whenever one errors or returns nothing:

Each provider gets a 4-second timeout, so one slow provider can't stall the whole chain. An India/Hindi-focused own index is being built separately and isn't blended into these results yet.
The AI Answer
For informational queries, a grounded summary from OM2.5 can appear above the organic results, with numbered citations that link down to the sources it drew from. It summarises and cites — it doesn't replace the open web.
Currently off. The OM2.5 inference endpoint isn't live yet, so the AI card doesn't appear on any query. When confidence would be low, or a query is purely navigational, the card is omitted entirely rather than shown with a guess dressed up as an answer.
Hindi and English
Every result's language is detected server-side and labelled EN or हिं. You never have to flip a toggle before searching — Devanagari, Latin, and mixed-script "Hinglish" queries all work as typed.
What isn't built yet
Stating this plainly is more useful than a feature list that overpromises:
- Autocomplete — the input is wired for it, but there's no
/suggestendpoint, so no suggestions appear. - Images and News tabs — the tabs exist; the backends don't. They show an empty state rather than invented results.
- Pagination past page 1 — the search endpoint takes no page offset yet.
- Own-index blending — hybrid full-text + vector search over a crawled India/Hindi index exists in the backend but isn't wired into the live result chain.
- The bangs directory — a handful of shortcuts work; the full seeded list isn't publicly readable yet.
- Rate limiting — the search endpoints are public and unthrottled. A real gap, and it closes before any public launch.
The wheel
Sarathi (सारथी) means charioteer — the one who knows the way through noise to a destination. The mark is the geometry of a wheel, and it does three jobs: it's the logo, it spins while a query is in flight, and its gold echoes the focus ring you see when tabbing through the page.
